Betaxolol [Betaxolol Hcl] ophthalmic is an eye drop a sterile isotonic aqueous solution which has Betaxolol Hydrochloride as an active ingredient and other inactive ingredients. Betaxolol [Betaxolol Hcl] is supplied in 5 10 and 15 ml in plastic ophthalmic dispensers. Betaxolol is used for the treatment of ocular hypertension high pressure within the eye caused by the accumulation of excess fluid called aqueous humor and chronic open-angle glaucoma. It may be used alone or in combination with other anti-glaucoma drugs. Betaxolol is a group of drugs known as beta blockers which helps to inhibit the production of the fluid aqueous humor which in fact lowers the high pressure within the eye. Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness.

How to use
Few instructions which are to be strictly followed for applying Betaxolol [Betaxolol Hcl] eye drops. Firstly the hands should be washed. To avoid contamination do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch the eye or any other surface. Patient wearing contact lenses should remove them before using this medication. Wait at least for 15 minutes after applying Betaxolol eye drops before putting in contact lens. To apply tilt head backward look upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over the eye and insert one drop. Look downward and gently close the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Apply gentle pressure at the corner of the eye placing a finger at the near the nose to prevent the medication from draining out. Do not blink and do not rub the eye while administering the medication. Repeat these steps for the other eye if so directed by your doctor. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace the dropper cap properly after the use. Patient has to wait for at least 5 minutes before applying any other eye medications in form of ointment or drops if in use. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye.
Usually Betaxolol is administered one to two drops in the affected eyes twice daily or as directed by the physician.
Use Betaxolol medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Use it at the same times each day.
